Where's my brown sugar?

It felt so good seeing everyone back in town again. Met up with a group of ex-classmates in Plaza Singapura and had a great time laughing at loads of old school (literally, that is) jokes. Familiar faces last night made Orchard a sincerely interesting place, just like how friends and acquaintances used to appear at every corner of the city and a simple hi-bye warms the heart even on days of monsoon thunderstorms. Wish that there will be one day when every tinge of familiarity returns to this tiny island of convergence and class gatherings will not be needed anymore. Just a wishful thinking this is.

World peace

Went to Punggol Park for dinner last night. Wondered why Clara chose the place while walking into the green, and suddenly the typical Singaporean twenty-four-seven peak-hour world became a blissful serenity beside the lake (or rather, pond, perhaps). Everything slowed into a jazzy smooth while moon in the water added candle-lighting in the dim ambience. It was pretty much perfect. And so this mood gave the restaurant's name. Dozens of wine selections made people indecisive and perhaps that accounted for the population (though humble food choices weren't really glitzy).

Dinning by the water no matter where in the world and what time in the day are such poetic moments that even fishes were quietly listening to the chatters beneath the ripples they make. Couples were counting the occasional stars, older folks dipped into their mesmerising past, the angels hovered while dressing like fireflies, even the devils kept their tools and rinsed their minds. That was some quality evening. Totally timeless.

Mambo No. 5

Met up with old friend Mich just now. That Cambridge girl's radiant as ever. Watched a random French movie, had some simple tea and caught up with each other's life a little. Perhaps it would've been perfect if there were an extra scholarship for the lucky boy. But luck doesn't stick to one for good (just as how these 2 years have been).

Can't imagine it's still the same education dilemma after a whole year really. Where to go, no one knows.

Far, far away

It's time to finally get outta Tanah Merah and check out Sengkang.

By the way, why's everyone living in such remote corners of the island?! :P

What's the tide like today

It's been such a wonderful day that anyone'd be pretty reluctant to sleep into the next day. Driving lesson was mediocre, without making any grave mistakes on and off the roads. Visited Leon at his Meyer Road residence in the afternoon. That guy's a strong man who's able to walk around in a knee support almost immediately after the surgery. Hawaii Towers is quite a peaceful place to stay at by the way, with the guardroom crew literally dress and look like they're from the Pacific. Dined Japanese with Clara at Toa Payoh, and caught An American Haunting with her at Bishan. That wasn't a good movie, which thus led us into having a high time back at her place. Heez.

Cab fares are quite a headache lately. And that's one of the strongest reasons to get a car as soon as possible right now. :D

Just like flowing river

Don't know what on Earth is gonna happen but hope that short-term joy isn't gonna become a long-term pain. Perhaps that's why teachers in school say adaptation is the most important in life. Chatted with a friend online and she thinks funny things do happen in life and letting them be is the only way out.

Let it be then. And enjoy the moment.

What's life like

Scared. For the first time.

Thanks to Mr. Ngoh, caught the Philips Cup at the Indoor Stadium this afternoon with Clara. Pretty entertaining in the beginning but it became boring as Singapore All Stars started losing their cool and eventually got thrashed by the Melbourne Tigers.

Reached home at 6am this morning. Never knew there're actually so many people sitting along Orchard Road in the wee hours talking to friends. Dilemma, again. A huge one this time round. What can cause them other than values and tradition. Ha.

Life's like this.

Squarish circle

Isn't it human nature to look back at things. A bad habit indeed. Never regretted anything in life but felt it was a little stupid to actually hop through a few of the dusty posts (well, at least doing duty in camp over the weekends provide such precious time to think and therefore to be).

August 2003 - Art classes, dance rehearsals, basketball training sessions. And cute girls.
August 2004 - Some upsets, classmates. And exams.
August 2005 - Past army unit, parties. And the new unit.
August 2006 - Still lost in life. Anticipating the end of a major mess-up.

Army daze. Somehow amazingly, no matter how much one hates something, he'll still feel more than a little attached after leaving (or even before leaving) it. Quite a joke which man makes on himself huh.

Oh when will they ever learn

The good old Zouk was overwhelming again last night. Went there on invites from Honk and his fellow medics and could've enjoyed more if they played some other genre instead. Reckon it's one of the really few times when partying became almost free of charge throughout the entire night (apart from post-clubbing pratas). Thanks to Henry (military rank undisclosed :P) for the treat on jugs after jugs of drinks which made everyone a little hip enough to unexpectedly move to the groove of house. Well, it's always been proven in history that soldiers party whenever they aren't fighting (or fighting in simulations) and somehow it can't be truer however hackneyed it is. Sigh.

Ou allons-nous?

For a while, I thought, a long but simple while that was,
That I landed on the moon with a freezing chill and nothing else around.
In the dream, I caught, with eyes wide open but somehow lost,
I stood on a desert million miles away from where I left without a sound.

For a moment, I stopped, quite a moment that I paused,
And saw nothing existed in this world, solely emptiness the vacuum surrounds.
In the lullaby, I sought, what an enigma of a song it was,
The truth of truths of life we live, and should we outlive in the direction abound.
