Facial injury

So the team crashed out of Gryphon's Cup 2006, bravely though. Not to blame too much on the groupings, not too much on Weibo not coming back in time, but it was simply the lack of training and chemistry. Not too bad as it might turn out to be, by the way, especially with Bernard's heroics at his board-crashing offense, Don's ever-lasting energy, ZK's most welcomed defensive help-outs on the baseline, Liu's acute agility, Jerry's incredible speed, Leon's positive aggression and Bertrand's quick thinking. Everyone's played well. Applaud yourselves, guys.

Something worth mentioning is Liu. That dude treasures friendship more than anyone around, for he came back over the weekend just for the team. Do have a great time working at Morgan-Stanley, man. Everyone's gonna miss you quite a bit. See you again really soon! :)

Rummage

Anyone who attended the dance performance tonight would've wowed at every single part of the rendition. Way cool. Caught this SMU production with Yun at Jubilee Hall just now and it was great companionship at the cozy threatre. Anyway, Amanda was fabulous with her Latin moves though she wasn't the few under the limelight all the time. Reckon everyone had eyes glued to her when she shook and flew. One of SMU's finest. :P

Right now it's called (back to) mixing with the right crowd (when they are back in town). Haha.

Everybody grab somebody

Everybody seems to be a little overly excited about Gryphon's Cup. Can't make out if a good or bad thing this is. ZK's ridded of his usual blues, Jerry became more than hyperactive during his sleep, Bernard couldn't but use the army intranet e-mail on nothing but basketball and Liu's gleefully booked his flight on stopping over for three nights just for the gathering. Happy, what not. The tournament came just in time at the usual mid-year crisis, so who will be melancholic anymore? :P

Morse code

Dang. Read a few blogs here and there, and realised almost everybody's having a great time in life! No one can live without cheers and laughters. Well, at least seeing happy people happy raise the mood a little for now. :)

Anyways, great to hear from you, Clara. Enjoy yourself in Beijing!

A Piscean's rant

It's been so boring lately that perhaps hell may be quite an attraction to visit. Been talking to various people randomly and reckon it's just not possible to get over things yet. Parents are unreachable, friends are dispersive, ex-girlfriends are a joke. Life's in a mess, in short, still. Maybe it's national service, maybe it's teenage angst, or maybe it's just taking and receiving too much self-pity that confidence is consumed by the shadows.

Wonder if everything's really gonna change after taking off the green. It's such a humungous but well-hidden question mark that no one seems to know. Glimmers of sunshine aren't enough yet to thaw the shivers out at the moment. Hope it's just this while.

Regimental duties in camp have never been so reflective and consolatory. Ha.

Bowling for soup

Met up with old dude Hocks and friends at Marina Square and that place's surprisingly crowded compared to a few months ago. Luck at bowling was almost as bad as any of the disasters that crashed into life during these two years of national service. Haha. But it was some time well spent with scholarly but business-minded guys.

Anyways, for friends who've received the email. Reckon it's worth a try especially when times are bad. Who knows everyone might somehow get rich overnight just like what Nicole advertises on her messenger nickname. :P

Play catch

Caught Campus Ghost Stories at Cineleisure with Jerry and Sharon just now, which brought memories of the good old school days spent with Ken and Yun. Happy "three" friends again, huh. By the way, stop racing and pay more attention on the roads - a friendly note to Jerry. :P

Anyways, basketball sessions in school have become a necessary element kick-starting every eventful weekend these days. Reckon life simply cannot go on without the sport. Gryphon's Cup 2006 is around the corner. Looks like everyone's pretty much anticipating the tournament, especially Bernard, who plays every saturday with so much energy that it seems like it's Armageddon after the morning or something. Haha.

Cars

Reckon everyone needs a little of animation cartoons once in a while. They're such a refresher. Caught Cars at Plaza Singapura just now during the half-day off from camp and it was well spent. An absolutely lovely film. Depression sprouted out last night but was uprooted in no time. Wheez.

Oh anyways, it is but the truth that Amanda is a strong girl. Inside joke. :)

Free and easy

HR Audit is over! Geez. Two weeks of intensely working in camp without being able to tell night from day has finally ended. Whew. Reckon it's surprising to everyone in the office that survival was actually plausible in the "cell" after burning countless midnight-oils on nothing other than working for the nation (however much it didn't seem to be).

This feeling of relief's inflatingly light and feathery at the moment and any kinda dullness has turned into shooting stars and butterflies. The finishing line of the two-year race is more than ever nearer, and it is but time to contemplate the future.

Friends forever

Can't deny that friends and friendships are a huge thing in life. But being oneself, one shouldn't listen too much to friends. After all, who isn't unique from everyone else. Swaying about and living without knowing oneself is something acutely sad that might not surface till late in life, and don't blame it on globalisation. Ha. A person beside may see things clearer (as that Chinese saying goes), but why not one take a step back and look around for himself instead, for no one knows better what the heart says.

Cheers to friends who are pursuing their dreams wherever they are, for they are already heroes who have taken a baby step nearer to what they truly want.

Not me

Another thing that everyone can't wait for is Jerry-and-Sharon's ROM. Believe it or not reckon it's roughly planned to take place some time next year, and that makes Brisbane a pretty perfect place for the mini-honeymoon. Yeah, don't always think of Indians when one mentions early marriages. Over here too, things go right when they are. Personally, think it's really great for this lovely couple to settle down fast and concentrate on work, life and religion since they're some folks who never get bored of calling and texting each other every other hour of the day. Admiration, salute. Who doesn't wanna settle down when the time is right.

Calling for no. 7 (ex-no. 9)

Sent Aaron off at Changi just now. It was unusually but genuinely moody for all. Sentimentality has always been a killer, especially at times like this. Well after all for sure that man's going to have a great time over at Brisbane, before coming back for the (southern hemispheric) summer in no time. It'll be some hard-core partying (and of course drinking) again then. Can't wait for that.

By the way, the groups of the Gryphon's Cup first round ties has been drawn. Somehow fortunately and unfortunately again it's gonna be the group with three other extremely strong teams early in the tournament. Hafta know that experiences do stack up, and reckon it'll be a good show in re-attempting to stop Jiaren, the Singapore national team captain (or rather, the monsterous talent of Rafflesian basketball). Haha. Anyways, where is Weibo?

Teach me

Sometimes popping in to the gallery, looking at beautiful paintings and conversing with beautiful people can be so much joy in life. It'd be completely unimaginable if there isn't something (controversially, is it even a "something", by the way) called Art. Monsieur Stephane shared his "young experience" in the Chinese art market and it was pretty affirmative that everything in the world is hanging in the air all the time. Shouldn't the dictionary editors just remove some of the redundant words around.

Anyways, this is the truth about Chopra Sports (the fabric printing shop at Peninsular Hotel) and not bad-mouthing. They are really some wealthy poor-looking cunning old Singhs who play with the Law of Delay and can't be bothered with customers. No advice but this is the first and last time the team's jerseys are gonna get the numbers printed here. Unacceptable simply.
