Roots in the air

Saw my doctor today and was given a brand new fibre-glass cast (who cares if it's bullet-proof or not) with a month's MC. Ain't happy at all. This really means that I'm gonna continue to stay home for the next four whole weeks when the attraction and excitement outta every kinda entertainment at home has already begun to run out. Dang. And Honk, my frequent visitor, is enlisting into the army next saturday. Oh well. Even the guitar seems to have become soft-spoken and indifferent in it's tones. While the Spalding ball in my room still stares at me sadly every day.

Army brings quite a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Where did I that from? Well, I can't but totally agree.

Indeed, indeed

Yun came to visit just now. Cheery as she always is. That really helped me to fight against my home-staying blues and claustrophobia. Thanks so much. Haha reckon she tried to see how messy my place was by calling me up only while on her way here and was prety successful when she stepped into the kitchen. Haha. Anyways, too bad that she was driving, or my homemade lycheetini could be quite some afternoon refreshment for us.

Well I just hope my ankle's gonna recover really soon. For so many of my great great friends like her are leaving for overseas in around three months' time. Dang. Hafta be mentally strong right now, just like every time stepping into a basketball court no matter who the opposition can be. The battle for quick recovery has already begun. Cheers.

You'll never walk alone

We're the champions! Liverpool finally ended my 12-year wait for the UEFA Champions' League trophy this morning with the astounding 3-goal comeback in 6 minutes in the second half and finally winning 3-2 in the penalty shootout. Woohoo. Reckon none of the Liverpool fans like Michael, Hocks, Yoke, William and Azri are able to sleep after the match. "This is insane! Insane! Insane!" Quote Hocks who was listening to his radio through BBC's live commentary risking himself getting caught in OCS or fainting during his SOC run-down tomorrow. We're just too happy. If you're a Liverpool fan and talk to me about this heavenly victory, a treat's gonna be on me anytime. :) Still can't believe this. Man. Champions.

Plato on Mars

Really can't believe only a week and a half has passed since my ankle surgery. Felt like decades. Arya tried tempting me to go to town with him yesterday during the secondary 4 class gathering at Jiahan's which I obviously couldn't. Well I wanted to, just like any other day right now, for the guy's leaving for University of Illinois pretty soon. Dang. Big foot. Immobility. Torture. Angst. Frustration. Helplessness. People, do take care of your body.

Monday or any day

Honk came to visit. He brought so many DVDs reckon I can't even finish them by the end of the year. Thanks man.

Anyways life's been peaceful at home. Not so lonely but serene, especially when one looks out of the window into the green fields and huge rain-trees along the pedestrianless Magaret Drive every so often that counting the few people jogging in the evenings becomes quite a spectacular event. Things have slowed down to a stroll. Think after this period of rehabilitation I'll really find myself appreciating the world a little bit more. Oh well. But if at all someone says the torn ligament is meant for this reason, I'd rather appreciate the world a little less. It is a tat painful, both in the bones and under the scull, ye know.

Anyways, finally finished reading the financial accounting book Amanda lent to me since March. Didn't quite chew and swallow all of it but reckon it still is some kinda accomplishment, for a soldier for now at least. Hahaha.

Anesthetising fear

I'm back! Reckon the pretty nurse helped a bit more than the painkillers after the surgery. Haha. Anyways, never knew that I'm pretty strong actually (or perhaps those words this morning had their effect). That they removed the dripper immediately after the operation made me display a satisfactorily assuring smile to mom and dad though perhaps my face looked wan and painful.

So, I've gotten an MC from today till end of the month when I'll be going back for a review and perhaps change the cast to a harder kinda plaster. Noticed the stack of travel magazines beside my iMac just now. Thanks dad. Reckon I can read loads of stuff during the while away from camp.

By the way, I really wonder why none of my close friends use an Apple. It never hangs and is way cool. Think munching an apple in my mouth is much healthier than looking at bugs climbing out of a pear. Bah.

A brave new world

Today was my last day in the camp before the ankle surgery and approximately (at least) six weeks of break from army. Everything in the ramshackle Ayer Rajah Camp seemed to be glittering in some kinda different light from usualness. I would've said goodbye to the chairs in the tech store if they were alive, for I did give almost everyone the rare pair of happy grin and bubye after work. For now I'm still not totally sure what's waiting for me at home during the next six weeks of "supervised homestay". Well, reckon one hasta always live with the present instead of the past or the future. Let anything be, then.

And chocolate prata tasted uniquely delicious last night. Yun gave me a ride to Jalan Kayu and we had dinner at the most exquisitely famous prata store in Singapore. Its location was surprisingly remote though. Reckon I could never get there without a comfortably convenient vehicle like her car. Besides, she drives like an really safe and weathered driver when she has only experienced real driving since like a week or two. Hafta promote her here for she complaint that I was the only one frequenting her front passenger seat. :P I like your car there.

Oh well. Hope to hear from people tomorrow after getting my ligament sewed up. Haha.

Fallen angel

I'm dead tired right now. Reckon ten hours of being a road marshall standing in the ALTC Kranji Camp's parade square directing every single VIP's car into its parking lot sounds quite like a direct disobeying of Captain (Dr) Lim's orders which have purportedly excused me from "prolonged standing". Purportedly.

Ladies in army camps are endangered species. At least that's true to some extent from the way they're appearing to us when they look at us with their noses while walking pass a group of camouflaged male earthlings every time. Well, not gonna comment with regards to Private Chen's words, "I won't even look at them if we're somewhere outta camp, like in a MRT station or something. Yee." :D

Saw Yazid in Kranji camp too. He's way too glad than to look into why the heck he's classified as a PES E personnel looking nice in a No. 3 army uniform and not having the need to come back anymore after two years. Arghz. Anyways, I'm still pretty amused and confused why I haven't gotten the acceptance letter from NUS when so many peers have already. Perhaps I've got rejected. :P That'd be something to celebrate, for it can be one of the reasons to Mom and Dad why I need to studies abroad. Haha.

Sakura

Met Mich yesterday. She had sparked me off with new invigoration in reading and learning. Felt like a student again and no more a typical army man (y'all know what I mean, haha) when she refreshed my mind with some french vocabulary that totally reminded me of the good old secondary school days when I was enjoying every one of Madame Fassault's french lessons.

Went back to Borders after tea with her at Coffee Bean. Somehow the urge to explore and burrow into books on the art world returned to me. Reckon i read as many books there as I've had during this whole four months of national service. The invigoration was disturbingly fulfilling. Bought a Robert Hughes eventually. Think that's gonna occupy me for quite a while in the army tech store. Haha.

Everything seems to be on their way to blossoming these days. Life's suddenly become a peaceful serendipity.
